Ideas to Build and Motivate Your Team:

1. After you register, you can create a Team Page. This Team Page can be emailed out to all of your friends and family encouraging them to join your team. You can post pictures, videos and write on the team’s message board.

2. Create a team in honour of someone you know whose life has been touched by ovarian cancer.

3. Invite your friends, family and colleagues to a ‘Pep Rally’ at your house. This Pep Rally would be designed to energize and motivate your team members to get out there and fundraise to become the top fundraising team! Ideas include:
  • Setting up a computer so your team members can register online right on the spot!
  • Inviting someone who has been touched by ovarian cancer to speak to your team so they learn why it’s so important for us to find an early detection test.
  • Making it a pot luck so everyone can enjoy some good food.
  • Working with your team to set a team goal – how many members does your team want to get, how much money does your team want to raise, then break it down into manageable numbers (30 team members raising $200 each is $6000!)
4. Create a friendly competition between your team members and whoever raises the most money or recruits the most team member gets a free dinner provided by the other team members.

5. Organize your team to host a garage sale, bake sale, book sale, car wash, BBQ – anything fun to raise money to ensure your team reaches the fundraising goal.

6. Invite your team members to create a banner to carry on the day of the event. Take a team picture to post on your Team Page on the Walk website.

7. Send regular emails to your team members through the online fundraising systems at www.ovariancancerwalkofhope.ca to encourage team members to visit the Walk Fundraising Scoreboard regularly to see your team’s progress.

8. Send your team messages written by loved ones whose life has been touched by ovarian cancer so your team members understand what a difference their involvement in the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope is making.

9. Team Birthday Campaign – throughout the year everyone has a birthday, encourage your team members to ask for a donation to your Walk Team in lieu of birthday gifts.

10. If you are having a party, charge all your guests a ‘cover charge’ and the funds raised will go towards your team’s fundraising goal. This is a wonderful way to raise money and is also an ideal way to ensure your friends and family know about ovarian cancer – without an early detection test, knowledge of the signs and symptoms is very important.
