The Walk of Hope was founded in 2002 by Peggy Truscott, a dedicated volunteer and a woman with ovarian cancer. Her vision was to create an event that would help raise awareness about the disease as well as develop more visible support and a sense of community for women and their families touched by ovarian cancer.

Now in its 9th year, the Walk has grown to include 15 National Walk locations and over 40 Mini Walk locations.

How to support the Walk

• Join or start a team

  To join an existing team, you can register online. Once you have started the registration process, you will need to know either the team name or the name of the team captain in order to join the team you are looking for.

  Starting your own team is easy - gather a group of friends, family or co-workers, select a team captain, a team name and start raising money! You can also create a fundraising page for your team so you can all watch as you progress towards your fundraising goal.

• Participate as a virtual walker

  For those who are unable to attend a Walk, there is the opportunity to join as a Virtual Walker.

  As a Virtual Walk participant you can show your support for this remarkable event by raising funds for Ovarian Cancer Canada without physically attending a Walk. To learn more about participating as a virtual walker click here.

  In recognition of your support as a Virtual Walker, your name will be printed on a sunflower decal and placed along the Path of Hope at your local Winners Walk of Hope event.

  To join as a Virtual Walker you will first need to select the city that is closest to you so that we can send the sunflower decal to that location and the money you raise will also contribute to that city’s fundraising tally. Register online as a virtual walker and start your fundraising right away.

• Do you want to participate in a Walk but don’t live close to any of the locations? Why not start your own Mini Walk.

  Starting a Mini Walk is an ideal opportunity to bring ovarian cancer awareness to your community. Setting up a Mini Walk gives you the chance to initiate an event in your hometown that can be as large or as small as you’d like.
