For Healthcare Professionals
To ensure that primary care providers keep ovarian cancer top of mind we provide:
- Online continuing professional development (CPD) for Primary Care - Ovarian Cancer Canada has partnered with MDcme, a consortium of the seventeen Canadian medical schools, to deliver an accredited CPD for Canadian family physicians. This online course addresses informational gaps around diagnosis, treatment and support. A case-based approach with "real life" patient scenarios is used. Accredited as MainPro M1, this educational program meets the accreditation criteria of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
- Webinars and face-to-face accredited sessions – Offered in collaboration with various universities, these sessions are ideal for primary care physicians and nurses.
- Educational materials – a fact sheet on ovarian cancer endorsed by the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada.
- Survivors Teaching Students® – an international program designed for medical and nursing students. The goal is to bring the faces and voices of ovarian cancer survivors into the classrooms to share firsthand experiences of dealing with a devastating diagnosis.
Survivors Teaching Students® is a signature program of the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance in the United States. Ovarian Cancer Canada launched this program in Canada in 2006.
