Future forward: 2021 brims with promise
January 8, 2021

Suddenly a New Year is upon us. Thanks to your support, Ovarian Cancer Canada is standing strong as a beacon of hope for women and families across the country.
Today, research to improve treatment options is proceeding at full tilt as Ovarian Cancer Canada’s OvCAN initiative works to speed discoveries. The library of scientific models is expanding, novel treatments are being tested, clinical trials are in progress, and another set of trials will be announced shortly. Also, as we enter year three of five, results from numerous studies are forthcoming.
Meanwhile, responses to The Every Woman Study: Canadian Edition are being compiled for a comprehensive account of the ovarian cancer journey. Findings will identify areas in need of added bench strength, where we will advocate fiercely to make certain that every woman, regardless of where she lives, can access the best available care and treatment.
The pandemic presented new challenges, and it will continue to test our strength as a community in the coming weeks and months. Nonetheless I am confident that Ovarian Cancer Canada will continue to answer the call for progress and action. A new slate of virtual programs and events is coming soon, bringing the latest knowledge on ovarian cancer, meaningful support for those living with this disease, proof of our impact, and more.
Together, we are ensuring that no one walks alone, come what may. Keeping with health protocols, this year’s Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk of Hope will present a powerful opportunity to raise funds and raise the teal flag from right where you are. Please mark Sunday, September 12, 2021 on your calendar and watch for details.
Even as we maintain safe physical distance, Ovarian Cancer Canada is here for you. The pandemic cannot and will not stand in the way of us championing the health and wellbeing of women living with ovarian cancer and those at risk for it, while advancing research to save lives.
Here’s to a brave new year ahead.
