Build one voice for every woman
April 15, 2015
Each year, nearly a quarter of a million women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer worldwide. In Canada, we can access safe places to talk about the disease and seek treatment. But in many countries, ovaries are never even discussed.
World Ovarian Cancer Day takes place annually on May 8 to build one voice for every woman.

“It’s a time when the international community surrounding this disease can rally to create a groundswell of action,” says Elisabeth Baugh, CEO of Ovarian Cancer Canada, who chairs the World Ovarian Cancer Day Committee. “You can start with the people in your life. Take the pledge to share information about ovarian cancer with those you care about this May 8.”
In pledging your commitment, you can expect to receive an email on May 8 with important facts on ovarian cancer to forward to your friends and dear ones. Sharing awareness is that simple. So easy, in fact, that you may even challenge others to pledge along with you.
Taken together, these efforts have potential to multiply the awareness factor by five. Meaning that someone on the other side of the world might come to understand this important health issue for herself and seek the help she needs.
Pledge today at ovariancancerday.org.
