Announcement: Introducing Tania Vrionis, incoming CEO of Ovarian Cancer Canada
Jun 28 2021
Following our announcement of Elisabeth Baugh’s upcoming retirement as CEO of Ovarian Cancer Canada, the Search Committee of the Board of Directors embarked on a rigorous recruitment process. One candidate set herself apart, bringing to bear the leadership experience and fortitude to make a difference in women’s health. Today, it’s a pleasure to share with you that Tania Vrionis from Surrey, BC is our incoming CEO.
With over 20 years in the not-for-profit sector, Tania brings a wealth of experience from special causes ranging from education to healthcare. Hailing from the MS Society of Canada, where she is currently Vice President, Community, Tania has honed an integrated and inclusive approach that puts stakeholders first, every step of the way. On a related note, she has developed strong ties with researchers and clinicians, actively engaging them in key partnerships and joint initiatives. Beyond this, Tania has led work in strategic planning, program development, advocacy, and much more.
She comes with a deep appreciation for the passion and commitment our community has invested in affecting change for women living with ovarian cancer, and I am confident that she will match your enthusiasm and determination.
Looking to the road ahead, knowing the extent of research and programming already underway, all hands are on deck as Ovarian Cancer Canada continues to defy expectations. All I can say is: prepare to be amazed yet again. Tania brings a successful track record for mobilizing communities towards great impact, and with the legacy of excellence already in place at Ovarian Cancer Canada there is a strong foundation from which to build.
Having spoken with Tania at length, it’s clear to me that she is poised and ready to lead Ovarian Cancer Canada to the next level as we continue to press for improved outcomes and more research funding, extend and deepen programming, and rise to meet new challenges.
I know that Tania will partner powerfully with the dedicated team and Board at Ovarian Cancer Canada, and importantly the community we work with and for. She is eager to connect with as many stakeholders as possible and will be joining us officially on August 30.
Sincerely,
Mark Galloway
Chair of the Board
