Join the Saskatchewan Ovarian Cancer Survivors and Inpower Breast Cancer Survivors for a “Women’s whole health retreat” on March 28-29, 2025 in Regina. This in-person event includes sessions for survivors and their loved ones engage in sessions focused on research, resources and support. There will also be time for networking with others affected by ovarian or breast cancer.
The event will kick off at 6 pm at The Atlas Hotel for an evening of connection including a networking dinner. Then on Saturday, at the Southern Horizons Area Guide Centre’s Girl Guide Hall, you’ll hear insightful information from industry experts and people with lived experience.

In this presentation, you will hear about menopausal symptoms and long-term health outcomes after menopause. You will also learn behavioral and lifestyle management strategies to manage symptoms and improve long-term health outcomes. We will discuss non-hormonal and hormonal treatment options and will discuss the management of Genitourinary Urinary Syndrome of Menopause with hormonal and non-hormonal treatment strategies.

In this session you will learn about some of the psychosocial changes and physical body changes that can impact sexual intimacy. You will also learn some of the various strategies and solutions to the issues and concerns that can occur which are related to a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment.

In this session, you will learn about the causes and effects of brain fog on cognitive functioning and critical thinking. We will explore practical Cognitive Hygiene Strategies to help manage brain fog, including self-care practices to ensure your basic needs are met. Additionally, the session will cover strategies for returning to work after illness. Breast cancer survivor Renai Jackle will share her personal experiences, offering insights into coping with cognitive challenges and reclaiming mental clarity during recovery.

Belly Dance and Body Image: reclaiming our bodies through mindful movement
Michelle Richter, B.Ed, M.Ed
In this fun, interactive session, Michelle will take us on a journey of rediscovering what it feels like to be in our bodies; post diagnosis, surgery, chemo and/or radiation. With so many factors affecting the physical body because of cancer, Michelle introduces dance as a way to get in touch our femininity and bodies as a journey to healing. The gentle movements will help reconnect our bodies and minds and we will have fun, laugh and support each other in community. No dance experience necessary.

Speaker biographies
Angelique is a Canadian Certified Genetic Counsellor who began working for the Saskatchewan Health Authority following graduation from the University of Melbourne’s Master of Genetic Counselling program in 2021. As someone who was born and raised in Saskatchewan, her passion was to give back to the community by working for the province that helped shape her. She has a particular interest in cancer genetics and helping people make informed decisions around their health and family screening. When not at work you can typically find Angelique outside with her pup; whether it be on a walk or a patio!

Through storytelling, guided reflection, and meaningful conversation, you’ll discover how to make the most of life’s moments—wherever you are on your journey—with empowering takeaways to help you live intentionally every day.
Dr. Anne Katz is focused on providing information, education and counseling to people with cancer and their partners about sexual changes that can occur during and after treatment. Dr. Katz wants every person with cancer to be able to have a discussion about sexuality with their health care providers. And so she travels around the world, teaching health care providers to ask their patients about this important part of quality of life. She is the author of 13 books for health care providers and health care consumers on the topics of illness and sexuality as well as cancer survivorship.
Amanda completed an undergraduate nursing degree from the University of Saskatchewan/SIAST collaborative nursing program and a Master’s of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She is certified through the National Certification Corporation as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She completed the certification process through NAMS (North American Menopause Society) to become a Certified Menopause Practitioner. She has extensive experience in Women’s Health including prenatal, antenatal, and postpartum care, sexual health, contraception, inpatient and outpatient gynecology, pelvic floor dysfunction, and care of midlife women.
Amanda is passionate about comprehensive care that explores with her clients how to feel their best. She is a holistic health care provider with a focus on wellness and vitality through the changes at midlife and beyond. Her goal is to partner with her clients to create an individualized plan to manage the many changes associated with the menopausal transition. She is a firm believer that aging is a gift that involves hard work; either the hard work of being infirm or the hard work of being vibrant.
Known to her clients and colleagues as the ‘Vagina Consultant’, Suzanne Funk is a Physical Therapist passionate about pelvic wellness and the necessity for practitioners to be knowledgeable and comfortable when assessing and treating pelvic floor conditions.
Suzanne graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1993 with a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in the Division of Physical Therapy. She has been working in the area of pelvic health since 2009, with a keen interest in pelvic pain. Suzanne’s enthusiasm is contagious and her strength lies in her ability to take complex subjects and teach them to patients and colleagues in a way that is understandable, relatable, and usable.
In addition to her full-time private practice, she is also an active contributor of educational videos for the teaching website OBGYN Academy and holds a non-physician teaching position with the University of Saskatchewan – College of Medicine.
Renai was diagnosed with stage 2 Triple Negative Breast Cancer in 2021. She found strength and support through Inpower and a local breast cancer support group, both of which played a vital role in her recovery. Grateful for the encouragement she received, she was eager to give back and now serves as an Inpower committee member. An avid traveler, Renai is passionate about exploring the world and embracing new experiences.
Michelle Richter is an arts educator with over 20 years experience as a teacher. She has led numerous arts-based workshops for students and teachers alike. Michelle was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2023 and has undergone chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. She was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer to her liver in 2024. Michelle belly dances as a way to be present, connect to her body and heal emotional wounds. Dance and the arts have always been an important part of her life, and even more so after her cancer diagnosis. She is convinced in the power of the arts to express and heal.
With an impressive 18 years of experience in occupational therapy, Lindsay Roysum brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table. She is dedicated to helping individuals of all ages achieve their goals in everyday life, with a particular focus on nervous system regulation and promoting restorative sleep. She works at Stapleford Health and Rehab Centre and is passionate about spreading her knowledge to help people optimize their health and wellbeing.
